The MoreWithUs List of 20 Women-Run Eateries in Baltimore
It’s always nice to try new restaurants and find new connections in the process. These businesses not only serve the community but will always be looking for people to hire for everyday jobs. Here is a list of 20 women-run eateries in Baltimore, Maryland to try in 2021.
Cafes and Brunch
Okay, this one may not be an eatery, but it still makes it on my list. This company is a coffee roasting company located in Baltimore. They make specialty roasts, and their coffee can be purchased in stores all around Maryland.
This cute tea shop in Hamilton is best suited for anyone who loves Brits, sandwiches, breakfast, and afternoon tea. So… anyone. They are currently open for takeout and delivery, but during non-Covid times you can throw parties, reserve a spot for High Tea or Queen’s tea, or stop in for a bite to eat.
Located in multiple places in and around Baltimore, Sofi’s Crepes serves savory and sweet crepes as well as breakfast drinks. You can also make your own crepe. This is certainly one of my favorite breakfast places to go.
Teavolve won a Best of Baltimore Award, so they are certainly worth checking out. Currently open for takeout, this Fells Point cafe serves specialty teas, coffees, and breakfast and lunch foods. They also have specialty cocktail pouches. (Yes — like an adult Caprisun.)
I know this is another coffee roaster on my list… I may have a problem. However, Vent coffee partners with Well Crafted Kitchen so that you can order cups of coffee if you want (and some food), not just the coffee beans.
Lunch and Dinner
Highly recommended by my sister, this restaurant in Hamden sells all your classic barbeque needs. They also sell a collection of whiskeys to go along with your meal.
Cafe Hon is a Baltimore classic. Known for its giant pink flamingo out front, this restaurant has been open since 1992. Here, you can find classic Maryland and American foods.
Located in Mount Vernon Marketplace, this restaurant has a small but classic taco menu. You can order appetizers, street tacos, burritos, quesadillas, or tortas.
If you’re looking for a more expensive or fancy night out (or in at the moment), Citron is a great choice. Their menu includes seafood, meat, and vegetarian options.
This is another go-to restaurant if you’re looking for a fancy dinner. They sell all things Italian, down to the alcohol.
This restaurant is aptly named. They sell creole dishes as well as general southern dishes.
Set in the Ivy Hotel, this restaurant is as luxurious as the hotel. They describe the food they sell as “European Traditions Infused with Maryland Soul” and sell soups, salads, and sandwiches.
This restaurant is fun because not only do they sell their own small plates, entrees, desserts, and drinks, you can also sign up for cooking classes. They’re $65 each, and they have kids cooking classes too!
This specialty restaurant is run by a dynamic mother-daughter duo. They sell meat and vegan hotdogs and sides. Located in the heart of Baltimore, this is the place to go if you are looking for classic sports food with a gourmet twist.
Dessert
Known for their brioche doughnuts, this pop-up doughnut shop can be found at farmer’s markets and other locations around Baltimore. For now, you can order online or pick up at specific locations, but a food truck is on the way!
These chocolates are made homemade and from family recipes. They sell anything from truffles to baking chocolates. Plus, if you don’t like chocolate, they have some hard candies as well.
I love The Charmery. While they have locations in Hamden, Towson, and Federal Hill, all their ice cream is homemade and contains local products. They do have seven classic recipes, but they are best known for their ever-changing, creative menu. From their Caramel Old Bay to their Saturday Morning Cartoons, they will not disappoint.
This eatery sells all pies. While most are sweet, they do have some savory ones.
Run by Kathy Nelson, this company makes small batches of homemade, family recipe toffee. The toffee and barks are sold in stores and restaurants throughout the Baltimore area.
These cakes are made to order. They have signature cakes, or you can build your own!
